Perched on a bluff 60 feet above the ocean is a community of single-family homes on large lots in one of the phases of Puerta del Mar. The project is in the third and final phase of its development, and currently has around of 70 houses in total. Each phase is its own separate residential area with its own guarded entrance.
Puerta Del Mar is located at kilometer 54.5. To get there, take the Cuenca Lechera exit off the toll road, turn left and drive about 3 miles on the ocean view freeway until you reach phase one with the large Puerta del Mar sign. This community has about 14 years. The houses are individually built by the owners of the lots and all of them are very tastefully done. Most are also quite large, from about 2,500 square feet to over 5,000 square feet. Your home and trim colors must be approved by the architectural committee and there is a published palette from which the homeowner can choose. There is no limitation on the size of the house you can build.
Amenities include a clubhouse and swimming pool with an exquisitely decorated bar area, containing a modern full-size refrigerator. For the sporty, there is also a tennis court, a basketball court and stair access to a wide sandy beach. A beach is an excellent place for an invigorating walk, as it straddles both sides of the property and has a total length of approximately one mile. All these amenities are in the third phase. This also houses the ticket office which is advertised as open from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. m. to 5:00 p.m. m. from Friday to Sunday. But it was staffed during our visit on a Thursday afternoon, so you may be accommodated on days other than the weekend.
